CheckM8 - Pixel Chess Kit

A complete collection of pixel-art chess sprites across 5 themes, made for board games, minigames and retro projects. Every piece is handcrafted on a 32x32 canvas with consistent lighting and a shared ground line. All themes are fully interchangeable, so any piece set works on any board.

Included Themes

• Black & White - the classic set with gold gem accents
• Wood - maple vs. walnut with ruby inlays
• Metal - polished silver vs. dark blued steel
• Game Boy - built strictly from the four original DMG shades, nothing else
• 1-Bit - pure outline pieces, drawn at 8x8 and crisp-scaled to 32x32

Art Style and Files

All pieces are pixel art, provided as PNG files with transparent backgrounds. Every file follows one naming scheme (piece-color-theme.png), so swapping themes in code is trivial. The Black & White, Wood and Game Boy themes include matching 320x320 boards with coordinate labels, from both the white and the black player's perspective. Board squares are exactly 32px, so pieces drop onto squares with zero offset math. The Metal and 1-Bit sets pair with the neutral board.

More themes may be added over time. If the pack expands, you will receive the new sets as free updates.

Compatibility

License and Usage

Permitted - Use these assets in personal and commercial projects, including games, promotional materials, and prototypes.

Prohibited - Resale or redistribution of the raw sprites or any modified versions as an asset pack is not allowed. You may include the sprites inside a compiled project such as a game build, but you may not sell or publish the sprites themselves as a standalone asset collection.
